MORE HOTROD HAYRIDE

Just a chance to show more of some of the cool stuff i saw at the weekend.
Above cool Sportster with lots of copper
Filthy rat-rods looking hard as nails.
 Really big black thing.

At first glance this Sportster looked cool but then the closer you looked it just cooler. It had hidden throttle cable flip down number board ,hiding a light. It was clean and light and for sale for £5000.  If i had the cash it would have been mine.
Thiese two picks' are the same car. the inside blew me away, Just so tough.
Krazy horse customs build amazing bikes.. I didnt even bother asking the price..

HOTROD HAYRIDE

See that Triumph in the background?  Thats my bike that is.
Do you know where it is?  Its 160 miles from my house at the Hayride.
Did i get it there and back in a truck? No i rode it there and it'll take my ass a week to recover.
"Pussey" i hear you cry "Its only 160miles" Yep but it is a hard horse saddle on a couple of valve springs.
Any way the Hayride was an amazing party. the setting was beautiful. It's held in the grounds of a riffle club that dates back to the Victorian era with beautiful colonial style buildings.
Most of the time you stand around having a yarn, looking at cool rods and bikes, drinking beer and meeting new people.
The standard of the cars there is unbelievable.
There is a huge aray of bikes of all styles and tastes.
There was an incredably dangerous hill climb through the woods.
Lots of people that had overdone the partying.
Soapbox races. That is a wood engine complete with wooden fanbelts and supercharger.
And you could even get a roast meal for £5.

ABSOLUTELY ONE OF THE BEST GATHERINGS THAT I'VE EVER BEEN TO.

LAST MINUTE PANIC

THE LAST MINUTE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT, IF IT WASN'T FOR THE LAST MINUTE NOTHING WOULD EVER GET DONE!
I've decided to ride, up the A303 to the Hayride tomorrow on my Trumpet. It will be the furthest i've riden it. i have 3 issues.

  • 1. I have no MOT: I have been beavering away in the shed tonight so it should fly through the Test tomorrow. (that is me below working hard in the Shed).

  • 2. Will my back last a long journey on a hardtail : ill just have to find out (hopefully there will be a chiropractor there)
  • 3. Will my engine last: I'll just have to trust in THE FORCE. (or the RAC)

CAN YOU TELL WHAT IT IS YET??

Its the coolest Jesus-on-a-cross type thing ive ever seen.
This was another one of them sculptures i saw near Mont Blanc

THIS WEEKEND. I'll be there..

DOWIES TRUMPET FRAME

Finally got my shit together and got a little bit closer to sorting Dowies Triumph frame.
I just need to neaten up some bits and weld in the engine brackets then i can hand it over to Dowie so that he can build the rest of the bike.

IF YOU WANT LONG FORKS, LISTEN UP. BUT EXCUSE THE MUSIC

SATURDAY IS SWEDISH CHOPPER DAY

 WOOOHOO! ITS SWEDISH SATURDAY AGAIN.
The first 3 pictures here are from http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~gnl/gallery3.html , this site has a lot of choppers.

I dig the style of this Shovel. I dont think the purists would call it a Swedish chop but i like it.
Definatly a Swedish chop and a damn fine one at that.

The next 3 photos are all from The Norrtalje show in Sweden. A show i would love to go to although i have read that it was pissing with rain there this year.
The above pick' is from 1975 the year that i was created and twin square spot-lights were all the fashion..
This great pick' is the Peoples choise in 2003
Are my eyes playing tricks on me or is that a lovely Sportster?

THIS IS A BAND I SAW THIS WEEK. i came out of the gig with ringing ears, a bad neck and a bruised toe. BRILLIANT!

JIMBO'S TRX850

My friend Jimbo has nearly got his TRX on the road and it's looking bloody lovely.
Looking at his bikes reminds me of when we were both 11. We had this obsession with drawring crazy war vehicles, his drawings were always neat and prescise with clean lines and a distinction between black and white where as mine were always scruffy and compleatly the opposite. This is a style that has followed us into later life with our bike building.
I still liked my drawings more.
But this bike is a BEAUTY.
WELL DONE JIMBO.

THE END OF THE WORLD

I went to 'The British bike show' at 'The Worlds End' Pub near Taunton.
It was a beautiful ride there and once there it was a great gathering. There were lots of cool bikes and lots of grubby people in overalls and there was Beer.

 There were also some:-
Lovely cool Shovels.
 Some very Shiny bikes
 Some very Ratty bikes.
 Some very Wierd bikes.
 Some lovely Nortons
 And my Favorite.
The bloke who owns this is a very nice bloke and told me all about it. (im sorry i cant remember his name)
I think he said it was a BSA M21. Its 500cc (my brain is like a sive, so please feel free to correct me as i always make cock-ups. REMBER. "dont believe anything you read on the internet.")
Its a standard frame but has 16"Suzuki Marauder Wheels on it that make it look really skwat, and good fun to ride.
And there was proof that, if this is the 'youth of today' then the future is in good hands...

ROAD TRIP pt5

After we had left the city of Chambry, we rode near Clearmont Ferond into the Massive Central to Mont D'or. this is a favorite place of ours. I have snow-boarded here a few times but this is the first time i have been there without snow. its still bloody beautiful and we even saw some 'line-dancers' whilst there.
After a night in Mont d'or it was a two day ride (stopping to see my step-mum) back to Roscoff for the ferry. Theise days were the only days we got rain and that was for only 30mins.
Getting onto the ferry were a load of 'bods' returning from the LeMans classic. they all had some prety cool cars, but the best thing i saw there was this Lamberetta.
I don't normally dig scooters but this was bloody mint and had a trippy- metalflake painjob, compleate with naked chicks in a chariot. The motor sounded crisp and i floated onto the ferry amoungst a sweet- smelling cloud of 2-stroke.
That's it for this trip. 3035 miles. Some amazing scenery, hanging with great people and a near-death experiance.
BLOODY MARVELOUS

GO TO THIS.(if you are in France, next to the Alps

ROAD TRIP pt4

After 5 days in Croatia Lizzy and me left all the other guys at the house and started making our own way back.
It was sad to leave such good friends after only a few days, but we will see them again soon, plus the road called.
We left the heat of Croatia and rode into the heat of Italy.
There is a Highway that spans the top of Italy, joining Venice-Milan-Verona and Tureno.
DONT EVER use this road, it is HELL.
The Italian drivers (i dont want to generalise the whole population) were driving so fast and practically pushing me out of the way.
At one point Five cars and a truck crashed right in-front of me, i was in danger of being crushed from behind and hitting all the carnage but at the last moment i spotted a gap in all the wreckage and gunned it through before the mass pile-up killed us both.
That was enough for us we got off that road as soon as possible and headed for the mountains.

We stayed one night next to a lake ( where we were under dressed in a nice resturant).
The next day we headed up and over Mont Blanche and into France.
On the Italian Side of the mount we saw all these cool sculptures made from motor parts.
At the top of St Bernard pass. That is snow on the ground in places.
It was an amazing road that wound up and down the mountain. At the end of the day we stopped in a Small city called Charmbry.
This was a very beautiful city and i spotted this Great Laverda Montjuic.
