Cosmic sunshine

This is Brad getting a feel of his new flattrack bike. Obviously dreaming of short tracks ( if was the mile he would have his left hand clamped to his fork leg. )
I assume he's practicing , either that or his beard is snagged in the sprocket again.

Today I had a day just pootleing around my shed , wood burner crankin an Brian Harris callin the tunes on my radio.

I got a bit over excited an decided to go for a blast over the moors on my Duke.  We got no snow here but it was bloody icey and I nearly ended up on my arse more than once.

I stopped to get some pictures of the deep ice blue sky and the sun pinging off of the aluminium tank, majestic frost coverd moor land rolling off into the distance . But I had no camera (that's why you got a lovely picky of Brad)

DODGE CHARGER

Since it's nearly Cristmas I thought I would share a picy of a lovely Dodge Charger.

Cutting up a perfectly good motor.

Today I stripped the Triumph motor down to see what cams I had in it. They are not the 3134's that I would like so I'll sort that .
"That's not a Triumph motor you bloody tosser" I hear you shought . True. This is my sportster lump for my chop.
I decided that the motor needs to be smartend up a touch . So I pulled the cam cover off , pilled in (with out a thought to my personal safety ) and cut some crap off of the case to make it a more pleasing shape.

Then I poured on the paint stripper. This was as much good as a chocolate fire guard .
I got board waiting for it to not work so I set too it with the flapper disc on my grinder, removed all the paint (and a fair bit of aluminium ) then buffed it flat on my scotch brite type wheel thingymabob.
It not looks suitably old and a bit cooler . There for making it more suited for my chop.
I was so pleased with the result I went to the pub an consumed a whole pint of beer.

RACE TRUMPET PROGRESS

Just got my head and barrels back from the engineer . Bloody good bloke has put in the elbow grease and done a great job with some very shagged parts.
I got new valves, guides and seats . And he has skimmed the head and barrels given it a hone. And a very light port. There was some other stuff that needed attention aswell that he sorted. Somebody had done a crap job of boaring the head to fit bigger barrels , so he made some inserts and got all that nicely fitting.
Now I'm gunna check the cams and he will help me check clearances and time everything up.
Then I can start building the frame soon . Which is quite exiting.

Making omelets

That's it I've broke some eggs. Nows the time to start making an omelet ...
Bloody frame is so heavy 34 kg
But now I've just chopped off 9kg I feel a little better.
The tubes for the seat / shock supports are nearly 6mm thick .
Shockin.
Next job is to post it to my good friends RockSolid Motorcycles in Portugal .
They produce lovely work and seen as I have a Triumph frame to build and I'm flat out buisy , I'll happily pay them to so the work.

100000 views cheeky lady time

I just realised that I have over 100000 views .
That means that I have to celebrate with a lovely lady.
This beauty used to help me sleep at night when I was a wee sprog.
Enjoy and thanks for taking an interest in my rambelings.

New pink floyd album

Tinkering in me shed. New floyd album on wireless, beer in my greasy fingers and I managed to get me sweed around some chopper geometry .

SWEDISH CHOP PROJECT

Got me forks 10" over
Got me wheel 15"x 9" drag wheel
So I mocked up the sportster tonight to see how it would look.
Fuckin ace , that's how it will look. Handeling may be a bit shit but I can deal with that.

Tyre is a 215x60x15 it's slightly narrower than the rim so nothing is wider than said rim . This gives me a bit more space for my drive chain. An also gives the wheel a very slight camber.
I did have a bit of a moment in my haste to river the bike on blocks.
Once the wheel was removed I lowerd the frame onto 5" blocks but as it descended it picked up quite some pace. But it's OK because both of my middle fingers on both hands acted as a lovely bump stop between the stand and the cissy bar.
I was trapped squealing gently to my self getting slightly panicked . I was completely stuck.
I had a vision of myself being found the next day passed out with my hands trapped in my bike.
I had to summon all the power in Grayskull to lift it back up to free my poor digits.
Fuck that was a close one.

Sunday shed time.

Right so I've cut, bent , bashed, sweated and tryed my hardest to use my new welder.
Result is I have half made something minging .
But I did manage to burn my fingers 3 times, learnt to use a foot pedal , got a little pissed off and baked two amazing apple pies.

Sat 14th national "where's the hairbrush" day.

Every body in the house askes me " where's the hair brush" I'm the only fucker in the house that NEVER uses a hairbrush. I'm unsure why I would have the answer to that.

Motörhead and Ace Cafe

This weekend was a right supprise.
Mrs Oily won tickets to go and see Motörhead on sat night ,  courtesy of Plannet Rock ( our rock radio staition )

In the morning we went to Ace Cafe for breakfast. ( thanks to Hugo an Sergio from Rock Solid motorcycles , in Portugal for suggesting that we go there. I didn't realise how close we were an they used to live in London for a time).
First time I've been there an it was bloody great. There was a military vehicle meet there as it was rememberance Sun.
Motörhead were great as always but the Dammed were brilliant and a massive supprise was Boss Hoss , 11 members in the band that put on a brilliant show. Well worth watching.

Death proof

Me an my lad are watching Death Proof.
I tell him that it's a film that flopped at the cinema ." Nobody liked it".
He says "its full of chicks talking chick stuff. So blokes don't like it . An it's got some very violent stuff that chicks don't like. No wonder it was a flop" .
Wise fecker.
Next he says . " is New Zeland off Scotland?"
Just when I thought there was hope he goes and dropped a spanner in the works.
??

Kustom Mag

Years ago I used to regularly go to France.
Every time I went I bought this Mag.
Only wish I could read French

The winter build starts

Happy November .
We haven't  had a lovely Lady for a while an since the photo of Mrs November Looks a bit wonky , here's another picky of a very sensiblely dressed young lass on a dirt bike .

The last few days have been a bit of a step forward in the bike building stakes.
Unfortunately I have no photos for proof. But .
I bought new valves and vale stem guides for my Trumpet then I dropped the head and barrels to a fella in Tavistock that used to build GP motors . We  had a chat about the whole "speed = money" an he said he will help me build a fast engine.....
Then about 2 hours ago I purchased a set of 10" over forks for my chopper project , from the states.
Now I'm a bit excited to say the least.

Now is the season of short days and long nights in my shed building bikes.
I have my Spprtster to build.

This Summers Top Motocross World Championship Events: Part One

Of all the variations of motorcycling to have taken off since the automobiles invention at the turn of 20th century, motocross is undoubtedly one of the most popular. With an extremely devoted and worldwide following, the sport has risen from obscurity to become of the current leading automotive sports at present.

There was a time when motocross helmets would have looked completely out of place on a merchant’s shelf aside standard full face helmets or modular helmets, however nowadays they are a sure signal of one of motorcycling’s most renowned subsections.

In this spirit, let’s take a look at the approaching top motocross world championship events:

Ernee, France

Each June, the formidable motocross track at Ernee- northwest of the medieval city of Rennes, northern France is taken over by thousands of motocross enthusiasts eager to catch a glimpse at some of the world’s top riders. As with much of western Europe, its characteristically difficult to predict whether there will be a need for heavy duty riding jackets, or none at all- as the meet is as likely to blessed with sunshine as it is with torrential downpour. The closest approaching event of this year’s series- the Motocross World Championships France takes place on June 9th.

Maggiora, Italy

An event with a little more guarantee of excellent weather, the World Championships Italian leg takes place at Maggiora, northern alley. This semi-mountainous region lays within spitting distance of the Swiss border- in turn providing some of the continent’s most formidable competition terrain. With a combination of alpine and dirt stages, a trip to Maggiora on June 16th is certainly worthy of consideration.

Uddevalla, Sweden

The town of Uddevalla is nestled within the uncompromising and rugged countryside of western Sweden. This sparse and natural setting provides the perfect location for some of the world’s best motocross riders to compete with one another. An excellent event showcasing some of the original aesthetical values of motocross as a sport, Motocross World Championships Sweden is Scandinavia’s premier event of this kind and takes place on June 30th, 2013.

Kegums, Latvia

A beautiful though somewhat underappreciated Baltic nation, Latvia has become one of Europe’s most celebrated tourist spots in recent decades. With an abundance of craggy countryside supplemented by some of the continent’s most impressive coastline- Latvia is becoming an increasingly popular destination for holidaymakers who are on a budget though refuse to sacrifice any form of quality. The small town of Kegums lies around 30 miles southeast the nation’s capital- Riga, and is set to host this year’s Motocross World Championships, Latvia on July 7th.

Hyvinkaa, Finland

Yet another glorious Baltic Sea destination, Hyvinkaa in Finland offers an equal amount of immense wildlife and powerful motocross bikes this July. Taking place at the town of Hyvinkaa, a short drive in-land from Finland’s capital city of Helsinki- this year’s Motocross World Championships make the short journey over the channel from Latvia to arrive in Finland on July 14th. Though the height of summer, this is Finland- so I’d pack those saddlebags full of your warmest riding jackets, just in case.

Distinguished Gentlemans Ride

Today was the Distinguished Gentlemansride
Twas a top day with lovely weather, very cool bikes , nice pleasant folk , and a very slow ride through towns and villages.
The ride back was a little quicker . Nearly having a tankslapper , cresting a bridge whilst trying to burn off your mate in a suit.
The only thought in my head was "I don't want to die in a suit. "
Big grins though.
